Visiting Scholar applications with an effective date of January 2025 and later are currently being considered.Nomination Deadlines
Process for visitors.
*There is no compensation or other financial benefits associated with a visitor position.
1. Visitors can be nominated for up to one academic year. 2. For visits less than one semester, the Associate Dean, Academic Affairs (AD) will make an ad hoc decision based on the availability of space. 3. For full semester or full year visits, the AD will determine how many offices will be available for visitors in each term. 4. The Associate Dean will also determine how many non-office-requiring visitors the School can handle each term. The AD will set deadlines for nominations for Fall Semester and full-year and for Spring Semester visitors. 5. A tenure-track or fulltime continuing contract faculty member sponsors a visitor via the Academic Affairs Portal, prior to specified deadlines. 6. The AD will screen the proposed visitors based on their potential for generating positive interactions with faculty and/or students, creating a list of potential visitors. 7. If the number of potential visitors approved by the AD is less than or equal to the number of available slots, the visitors will be approved. 8. If the number of potential visitors exceeds the available slots, the AD will post faculty sponsors’ statements in support of the potential visitors and the potential visitors’ CVs to an NYU Wagner web page. At the discretion of the AD, the merits of potential visitors can be discussed at a faculty meeting, if a faculty meeting has already been scheduled on a date prior to the deadline for selecting visitors. 9. An electronic vote will take place in which tenure-track and fulltime continuing contract faculty will approve each potential visitor (up or down, based on a majority of the ballots cast), and rank them from most to least preferred. 10. Available slots for visitors will be filled from the approved potential visitors in order of the average preference elicited by the faculty vote. 11. When visitors arrive, their faculty sponsor will introduce them at the first faculty meeting and give them an opportunity to speak briefly about their work. The faculty sponsor will also be responsible for integrating the visitor into Wagner life, as needed or appropriate. 12. A visit can last at most two academic years. Visits can be extended subject to approval by the AD and faculty vote. You can also consult Wagner's full list of Visiting Scholars and Practitioners
