Scholars and researchers at Leadership in Action at Wagner collaborate with leaders in public service, nonprofits, community organizations, foundations, and public agencies in designing and facilitating one-of-a-kind leadership development and capacity-building programs. Such programs can range from daylong staff workshops and team learning to ongoing work with leaders in specific fields.
We focus on developing new approaches to improve and support individuals and organizations looking to integrate effective leadership practices into their work. These approaches enable individuals to take up leadership as a collective endeavor in their organizations and lead to original and actionable solutions.
Rather than rely on one single model for leadership development, these development initiatives and programs draw on multiple traditions of leadership and management theory and pair it with the expertise and experience of people who make change happen every day.
Leadership in Action at Wagner creates collaborative learning environments for leaders to think critically about their work, tackle complex and provocative issues, share their unique insight, and learn from other dynamic and accomplished individuals.
At Wagner, we are interested in offering programs that not only equip individuals with knowledge and skills, but also enhance leadership in the organizations and fields where they work. These projects are a representation of our ongoing efforts in developing leadership.
An array of the courses offered at Wagner, prepare and encourage individuals to use new perspectives to evaluate their personal, interpersonal, and organizational effectiveness and become better leaders.
