Good to Go - Transit Options for Older Adults



Held on September 26, 2006, the event was co-sponsored by the NYU Wagner Rudin Center for Transportation Policy & Management, the New York Metropolitan Transportation Council, AARP, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, NYU Wagner Institute for Civil Infrastructure Systems, and the University Transportation Research Center, Region 2. The event focused on what is being done and what could be done to provide transit options for older adults throughout the region. The keynote address was provided by James S. Simpson, Administrator, Federal Transit Administration. In addition to the keynote address, the symposium featured 2 panels of experts who tackled issues relating to transit and the aging population through a combination of dialogue and presentation. The event attracted approximately 250 attendees from private, public, non-profit sectors, and academe, and also received significant coverage in the media.
