Certificates & Non-Degree Programs
If you're looking to make a quick pivot in your career and need a deeper understanding of a particular area, or just want to take a few courses across a spectrum topics to enhance your knowledge, consider our Advanced Certificate and Non-degree programs. You'll take courses with leading faculty and in the same classroom as our graduate degree students.
NYU Wagner offers a range of credit-bearing Advanced Certificates for public service professionals who want to enhance their public service careers. These Advanced Certificates provide high-quality instruction in finance, health, management, and public policy—providing students with a specific skill set and knowledge base for professional advancement.
The Advanced Certificates program offers students:
- Flexibility. Students can study part-time and most Advanced Certificates can be earned in one year.
- Educational excellence. NYU Wagner is a top-ranked school. Students will take courses with leading NYU Wagner faculty in our graduate degree courses.
- Applicability. Advanced Certificate programs focus on subject areas with direct professional relevance that can be implemented immediately.
- Professional networks. Advanced Certificate students interact and take courses with other NYU Wagner students in our various degree programs, providing an expanded network of contacts and connections.
Advanced Certificate applicants must possess the same qualifications required for acceptance into a degree program, and must undergo the same application review process. Applicants must apply by the appropriate deadlines and are not eligible for scholarship consideration.
An Advanced Certificate cannot be completed while simultaneously enrolled in a Wagner master's degree program.
Our credit-bearing non-degree offering is designed for public service professionals who are interested in sharpening certain skill sets to advance their professional development, but do not want to pursue a full master’s degree. The non-degree is less prescriptive than the Advanced Certificate program; students may choose which courses fit their goals. For example, students may choose to take a set of courses in a focus area or across areas (and must meet course prerequisites).
Like our Advanced Certificate, non-degree students take classes with our graduate degree program students. The non-degree program consist of a maximum of 12 credits (generally four classes).
Non-degree applicants must possess the same qualifications required for acceptance into a degree program, and must undergo the same application review process. Applicants must apply by the appropriate deadlines and are not eligible for scholarship consideration.
