How would you describe your experience as an NYU Wagner student?
It was a roller coaster because I jumped in before even moving to the City, so I was taking the train out of state twice a week, and crashing with friends most nights that first semester. But all the while, I was amazed at the great institutional connections I was making with work and internship opportunities. Then I was a pregnant student, followed by being a parenting student--which brought lots of challenges. And finally we capped it off with the COVID epidemic. So a very interesting two years for me!
Can you tell us a bit about your job responsibilities?
I am a member of the Center's national Training and Technical Assistance team that works primarily as contractors for the Department of Justice to assist jurisdictions around the country who want to create or expand problem-solving courts such as community courts, treatment courts, or tribal courts.
How did your experiences at NYU Wagner prepare you for your career?
Seeing Capstone as an opportunity for me to work as a consultant under knowledgeable supervision helped prepare me to 1) work as a consultant for the UN as I was finishing my degree, and 2) work in my current role as a contractor for the Department of Justice who primarily works in a consulting-type role for jurisdictions around the country.
What impact do you hope to make through your career?
I would love to inspire people from all backgrounds and all jurisdictions to see justice-involved individuals as their neighbors, as members of their community, and as human beings with dignity--which, of course, they are.
