Paul Decker, President and CEO of Mathematica, has dedicated his career to advancing public well-being by ensuring that government decisions are grounded in evidence. Today, policymakers face both exciting opportunities and significant challenges: a surge of new technologies like artificial intelligence, coupled with heightened pressure to deliver more with fewer resources. These dynamics are reshaping the practice of public policy and the role of individuals and organizations that generate evidence. In this talk, Dr. Decker will reflect on how the public policy field has evolved, the importance of human judgment in an AI-enabled world, and how future leaders can harness innovation to design and implement effective, cost-conscious policies.
