Experience "Edges of Ailey" at the Whitney Museum
Join NYU Arts & Culture Network on Saturday, November 9 from 3-4:30 PM for a free guided tour of the Whitney Museum of American Art and their new highly acclaimed exhibit—"Edges of Ailey." In 1958, Alvin Ailey founded the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater (AAADT) to uplift the African American experience and preserve modern dance. "Edges of Ailey" is the first large-scale museum exhibition to celebrate the life, dances, influences, and enduring legacy of visionary artist and choreographer Alvin Ailey. This dynamic showcase—described as an “extravaganza” by curator Adrienne Edwards—brings together visual art, live performance, music, a range of archival materials, and a multi-screen video installation drawn from recordings of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater (AAADT) repertory to explore the full range of Ailey’s personal and creative life. This event is open to all NYU Graduate students. Read more about the exhibit by visiting https://whitney.org/exhibitions/edges-of-ailey.
This event is for NYU students, staff, and faculty only. Attendees must register with an NYU email address.
