In the past two years, a record number of women have embraced the challenge to run for office across the country. This trend reaches across party lines and varies by level of office, from the U.S. Senate to the City Council. Behind the scenes, countless women are also directing and supporting political campaigns as staffers and consultants.

What is the role of gender in political campaigns? As we enter the final months of the midterm season, join the Wagner Women’s Caucus (WWC) for a panel discussion on gender, race and politics in the context of the 2018 elections and beyond. We will hear from candidates, campaign staffers and political experts about the unique challenges that gender poses to choosing to run and engaging in campaign work, both in New York and across the country.

Our featured speakers will include:

  • Ny Whitaker, Women's Vote Director, New York State Democratic Committee

  • Jasmine Robinson, Democratic New York State Senate Candidate, District 23 - Staten Island & Southern Brooklyn

  • Kate Cummings, Director of Community, Meetup; former Virginia Coordinated Campaign Director, Hillary for America

Light food and refreshments will be provided.

Doors open: 5:30 p.m.

Event begins: 6 p.m.
