The ability to generate insights from big and often messy data and, most importantly, visualize a story that helps decision-makers take informed action is something that is lacking in the nonprofit and public sectors. It is no surprise then that data visualization is one of the top 10 skills needed by employers in 2018, according to LinkedIn. This hands-on workshop will introduce effective data visualization techniques and teach you the basics of Tableau, the industry standard data visualization tool. We will use data storytelling to understand trends and showcase insights relevant to decision-makers through a case study of Airbnb in NYC (read this recent NYTimes article for more context). No prior Tableau experience required but please download Tableau Public (it is free) before the session.
