Understanding and visualizing organizational impact are crucial within the nonprofit and public sectors, intertwined with an organization’s credibility and financial sustainability. This hands-on workshop will introduce effective data visualization techniques within the context of analyzing and showcasing impact data for a primarily external audience (see Tableau Foundation’s Living Annual Report for a good example). Come learn one of the top 10 skills needed by employers in 2018, according to LinkedIn, and develop your data storytelling abilities through a case study of visualizing edX.org’s impact of their academic year courses. We will also discuss other relevant impact data sources, such as survey data, all while learning the basics of Tableau, the industry standard data visualization tool. No prior Tableau experience required but please download Tableau Public (it is free) before the session.
