WAGTalks: The COVID-19 Series

NYU Wagner and the NYU Urban Initiative present a series of virtual “WAGTalks” addressing a variety of socio-political and historical perspectives related to the current COVID crisis. These discussions will feature faculty and scholars from across NYU speaking on critical aspects of the pandemic, followed by Q&A.

"How Disasters Shape New York: The Impact of the Coronavirus on Life and Death in the Nation’s Largest City (Part 2)"

Mitchell L. Moss, an expert on New York City, will offer a fresh perspective on the city’s capacity to respond and recover from disasters. Using current graphics and video,  he will discuss why death has been concentrated in neighborhoods outside Manhattan, the decline in mass transit and the impact on the MTA, as well long term challenges in an era of remote work, online shopping, and the need to strengthen the entire public health infrastructure of the city.
