At the height of fear-mongering news, an increase and bold display of unaccounted police brutality, racism, sexism, gentrification, xenophobia, and the rolling back of laws that have protected marginalized groups, there is a constant fear and trauma that communities, even individuals at NYU are feeling. How then can a night of painting change these systematic issues?  The reality is that it won't but as people of color and students who are personally and professionally affected by systematic issues, it is imperative that we recognize our own self-care and view it as an act of survival! Needless to say, our goal is to create a safe space where students, alumni, faculty and staff can engage in a self guided paint night in a safe space.
