Spring 2020 Conflict Series—International Responses to Drugs and Development: An Inverted Relationship
Each Tuesday, the Conflict, Security, and Development Series will examine new research, discuss creative policy approaches, and highlight recent innovations in responding to the challenges of security and development in conflict and post-conflict situations.
For decades, the development agenda and drug policy have existed in parallel universes, even though development is one of the key pillars of the UN’s charter. Summer Walker, Senior Analyst and New York Representative, Global Initiative Against Transnational Organized Crime, will present research from her recent chapter written for the Handbook on Crime, Justice and Sustainable Development that considers why this has been the case, recent efforts to bring the two agendas into better alignment and the outlook going forward.
