Spring 2024 Conflict Series - Collisions: The War in Ukraine and the Origins of the New Global Instability
Each Tuesday, the Conflict, Security, and Development Series will examine new research, discuss creative policy approaches, and highlight recent innovations in responding to the challenges of security and development in conflict and post-conflict situations.
This week, NYU Wagner is excited to welcome Michael Kimmage, a Professor of History at Catholic University of America and a Non-resident Senior Associate at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. From 2014 to 2016, Professor Kimmage was a member of the Secretary's Policy Planning Staff at the U.S. Department of State, where he held the Russia/Ukraine portfolio.
This presentation will address Professor Kimmage's upcoming book, Collisions: The Origins of the War in Ukraine and the New Global Instability. He will discuss the role of Russia, Ukraine, Europe, and the United States in the outbreak of this war, and while sketching out some of the war's consequences he will touch as well on the global implications this war has had over the past two years and is likely to have in the future.
