Value-based healthcare is a healthcare delivery model broadly defined as one where providers, including hospitals and physicians, are paid based on the cost and quality of patient outcomes instead of the volume of care delivered. This talk explores the provider’s shift to “shared savings/shared risk” and why the transition is moving more slowly than originally envisioned. Value-based care has become a catch-all term that many wave proudly today, but few define it precisely, often failing to explore the nuances necessary to deliver upon its promise.
