Aaron Bekemeyer is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Public Service and of History, as well as the Director of the Undergraduate Public Policy Major at the Robert F. Wagner School of Public Service.
At Wagner, Aaron teaches on labor, policing, politics, and policy in modern U.S. history. He is currently working on his first book, The Labor of Law and Order: How Police Unions Transformed Policing and Politics in the United States, forthcoming from the University of Chicago Press. He has presented his work in many venues, publishing in the Washington Post, appearing on the NPR history podcast Throughline and in the documentary POWER, testifying on the history of police unions before the Pennsylvania Legislative Black Caucus, and more.
Previously, Aaron taught modern U.S. history at Harvard University. He received a BA from the University of Michigan, an MA from the Université de Paris 1 (Panthéon-Sorbonne), and a PhD in History from Harvard University.
