Christopher Nolan

Christopher Nolan is proud to join NYU Wagner as an adjunct faculty member in the Master of Health Administration program. As a Wagner Alum (HPAM 2013), he is excited to join his alma mater and continue to educate the next generation of healthcare leaders.

Christopher currently serves as the Director of Community Benefit and Anchor Initiatives at BJC HealthCare in St. Louis, Missouri. BJC HealthCare is part of BJC Health System, which is one of region’s largest health systems encompassing 24 hospitals spanning Missouri, Illinois, and Kansas and providing over $1 billion in community benefit. As a member of the Community Health Improvement leadership team, Christopher leads BJC HealthCare’s community benefit and anchor initiatives team with a focus on improving the health and well-being of those in the greater St. Louis region. Christopher is responsible for community benefit efforts for the Eastern region, including the institutional Community Health Needs Assessment, Community Health Improvement Plan, and Community Benefits Report. Christopher also leads BJC’s anchor initiatives, with a focus on local investing, purchasing, hiring, and volunteering. Christopher represents BJC on the Regional Community Health Needs Assessment Collaborative and the national Healthcare Anchor Network.

Prior to joining BJC, Christopher served as the System Manager of Community Health and Benefit at the Rush University System for Health in Chicago. He served as an instructor in Rush University’s Department of Health Systems Management, where he created and directed the “Health Equity and New Models of Care” course, for which he received teaching and service awards. Nolan was also an adjunct instructor with the City Colleges of Chicago’s Malcolm X College Community Health Worker program, where he led the development of courses to help community partners navigate the pandemic, including increasing vaccination awareness. Nolan began his healthcare career at Lutheran Medical Center (now NYU Langone – Brooklyn) in New York.

Christopher is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, of which he received the Young Healthcare Executive Award from the Chicago Health Executives Forum in 2019. He was honored as one of Crain’s Chicago Business Notable LGBTQ Executives in 2018 and one of the Windy City Times “30 Under 30” in 2019 for his work with the LGBTQ+ community. He currently serves as the Secretary of the Board for DOORWAYS, an organization that provides housing and wraparound services for people living with HIV and is a proud member of the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Leadership Missouri Class of 2023. Nolan earned his Bachelor of Arts degree, magna cum laude, and Master of Public Administration degree from New York University.
