Dana Kochnower

Dana Kochnower is a purpose-driven leader with over 20 years of experience in public policy, climate risk communication, and journalism. Known for her ability to bridge technical expertise with actionable solutions, Dana specializes in crafting strategies that achieve measurable results, foster collaboration, and drive action.  Dana is the Director of Community Engagement and Partnerships at Insurance for Good, a a non-profit organization serving as the base for a growing community of practice working to harness risk transfer for the common good. Previously, as VP, Social Change at Ogilvy, she supported a Community Engagement and Risk Communications contract with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and spent five years in the New York City Mayor’s Office where she led initiatives to communicate climate risks, launched innovative data-collection projects to document the social impacts of chronic flooding and advanced legislative reforms to improve flood resilience.  Earlier in her career, Dana spent more than a decade as a broadcast journalist, working as a writer, producer, and editor for WPIX, CNN, FOX Business Network and ABC News Radio.  She earned a master’s degree in Marine Biodiversity and Conservation from Scripps Institution of Oceanography and a B.A. in English from the University at Buffalo.
