Most recently, Gary was the Head of Content Development and Brand Strategy for the Film, TV and Commercial Production Studio, Alkemy-X where he ran the Branded Entertainment Group. He is still an active consultant for several clients with his partnership agency called Wellcrafted.
Freilich was at NBC Universal for over 11 years, most recently as Senior Vice President at NBC News focused on event sponsorships both event and on-air. He was responsible for business development and key social programs for NBC News. Prior to NBC News, Gary ran the Strategic Partnership Group (SPG) at the NBC Network, Universal Pictures and theme parks as well as for the programs “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon,” “The Tonight Show” and “Saturday Night Live.”
After NBC/Universal, he created a partnership agency for one client; Microsoft, to lead the massive education career rebranding project called TEACH; conceived by Arne Duncan, the US Education Secretary and rolled into a public/private partnership with Microsoft Education. This national social good initiative is still very much alive, successful and continues to be based on the model Freilich created as its first Executive Director.
As the SVP, Corporate and Brand Development for Sequential Brand Group, Freilich managed a sales & business development staff for a portfolio of consumer brands including Martha Stewart, Jessica Simpson, AND1, GAIAM
& Avia. He spearheaded a project for No Kid Hungry that paired Martha Stewart with Jessica Simpson for PSA’s around Friendsgiving to benefit the Share Our Strength project to feed hungry kids in America.
Earlier in his career, Gary served as the Vice President of Merchandising / Business Development and on the executive management team at Kozmo.com as well as in product management for over 8 years at Beiersdorf, the makers of Nivea and at Schering Plough Consumer Healthcare, the makers of Coppertone and Dr. Scholl’s.
Gary sat on the Board of City Harvest for 12 years; co-launched a “ticketing for at-risk youth to major sports events as reward and recognition for positive behavior’ charity called Most Valuable kids where he was board chair for 10 years and ran Taste of the Nation New York, a restaurant tasting event for Share Our Strength for 4 years.
