For over 15 years, Manan has cultivated an international career, living, working, teaching, traveling, and running in over 55 countries across 5 continents.
He is the Founder and CEO of 1619 Advisors, a boutique advisory firm for global health, patient advocacy and communications. His experience spans Fortune 200 companies like Bristol Myers Squibb and Novo Nordisk, as well as pioneering firms like Biogen—America's first biotech—and LEO Pharma, Denmark's oldest healthcare company. Most recently, Manan held the first-ever position of leading global health equity efforts for a company across the pharmaceutical industry while at BMS. Additionally, he has served as a speech writer for senior leaders, including ghost writing speeches and remarks for Hillary Rodham Clinton, Kofi Annan and government ministers in Denmark, Turkey, Pakistan, Argentina, and Colombia.
Currently, Manan also serves as a Lecturer of Global Health at Rutgers University's Bloustein School and as a guest lecturer on corporate sustainability at American University. He previously was an adjunct associate professor of public health at Fairleigh Dickinson University, having taught in both School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and School of Public and Global Affairs.
Manan holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, a Master of Public Affairs & Politics from Rutgers University and Bachelors Degrees in International Studies and Political Science from American University. He also has a Public Leadership Credential from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government and completed postgraduate studies at the University of Cambridge and London School of Economics and Political Science. He is a Fellow of the New York Academy of Medicine and an Overseas Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine, UK.
Manan is married with two small children and lives in Maplewood, NJ. In his free time he enjoys running and is pursuing a goal of completing all six world marathon majors.
