Matthew Pietrus, AICP is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Urban Planning at the NYU Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, where he teaches Geographic Information Systems and Analysis. He also works at the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) Construction and Development, which is the agency responsible for implementing MTA’s $54 billion capital program. In his role, Matthew negotiates P3 development projects that support private investment in the transit system, including overseeing MTA’s Zoning For Accessibility team which works with developers to secure property rights and funding for transit accessibility projects. He also leads pre-development activity, including market, financial, and zoning analyses to reposition MTA owned property into new transit-oriented development projects.
Previously, Matthew has held various roles in planning in New York, Chicago, Newark, and Kampala, using data analytics and expertise in land use regulations to implement public realm and infrastructure projects and develop policy recommendations to make cities more inclusive.
He earned his Master of Urban Planning from the Wagner Graduate School of Public Service at New York University and holds an undergraduate degree in Geography and International Relations from DePaul University.
