Palak Kaushal is the Deputy Chief of Staff at the New York City Department of Housing Preservation & Development (HPD). She works closely with the Commissioner and senior staff in advancing the agency's housing priorities for the city of New York, and serves as a bridge between the external-facing work of the Commissioner's office and the internal operations of the agency. Previously, Palak participated in the NYC Urban Fellows program where she worked in the Inclusionary Housing division at HPD and project managed various privately financed affordable housing deals throughout the City. Her career in public service began as an AmeriCorps VISTA in a nonprofit in Baltimore where she helped youth development organizations get funding for quality afterschool programs. Palak holds a Master's in Public Administration from the New York University Wagner School of Public Service and a Bachelor's from Montclair State University.
