Val Melikhova is a Lecturer of Health Administration at NYU’s Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service.
Val’s focus lies in helping create education and public service impact through data analysis, research, and human-centered design. As a Senior Research & Reporting Manager at Relay Graduate School of education, she currently drives data strategy in support of Relay’s mission in preparing teachers and leaders to provide PK-12 students with high-quality education. To increase access to key data and insights, Val develops custom data analyses, builds user-friendly and equity-focused dashboards, and works on the implementation of a new Student Information System. Prior to Relay, Val worked in strategic analytics at Camden City School District, where she supported teams and leaders with collection, analysis, and use of data for decision-making. Whether developing a data visualization dashboard, new system, strategy, or even an experience, Val likes to follow the principles of human-centered design and user experience methodologies. As Donald A. Norman said - “design is really an act of communication, which means having a deep understanding of the person with whom the designer is communicating.”
Val is also passionate about teaching and the language-learning field, and has worked with English learners of various levels and ages within the U.S. and abroad. She received her Ms.Ed in Education Policy from University of Pennsylvania and her B.A. in Political Science from Rutgers University.
