The Coalition for Asian American Children and Families’ (CACF) Community Development Fund (CDF) and Equity subcontracts provide equity-focused state funding to AAPI communities in New York State. Through analyzing provided reports and work scopes from CACF and conducting stakeholder interviews, the Capstone team created interactive datasets that include maps visualizing grantee locations, funding amounts, program types and topics, regional percentage allocations, and local legislative information. Complementary storytelling materials trace the evolution of the CDF over time, highlighting key shifts across funding cycles, particularly the intentional expansion from city-centered allocations to a broader geographic reach, through narrative synthesis and visual breakdowns of year-over-year trends, program typologies, and the communities served. The project also includes recommendations for grantee data collection practices. The team’s analysis matched quantitative and qualitative data to gauge community impact, organizational strengthening, and grantee-defined understandings of impact and safety, thereby strengthening transparency, advocacy capacity, and the articulation of CACF’s equitable and transformative grantmaking.
