Townspeople is a San Diego-based supportive housing developer and service provider that works with community members experiencing homelessness and living with HIV/AIDS. The organization has been able to provide housing and programming to its clients despite reporting a net asset deficit for over a decade, which presents a threat to its long-term financial health. Townspeople enlisted the Capstone team to understand the drivers of the deficit and develop a plan to reduce it. The team completed an in-depth historical financial analysis of the organization and conducted interviews with key staff and Board members, culminating in a report to Townspeople's leadership recommending an expanded fundraising effort and the introduction of long-term financial planning. The team produced a multi-year financial model that the organization can use to continue supporting its most vulnerable community members for years to come.
