Employer-Sponsored Reproductive Travel Support Model
The Brigid Alliance (BA) is a nonprofit organization based in the United States that offers travel, logistical, and financial services for individuals seeking abortion services, focusing on those who face geographic and legal barriers. This service is offered through a referral-based model, providing services nationwide without the employer's direct involvement. The relevance of this service has increased over time, particularly due to state-level restrictive policies that have heightened the need for travel services, thereby creating legal, administrative, and privacy issues for employers. In this regard, the Capstone team was tasked with assessing the viability of an employer-based fee-for-service model to improve the BA service's financial position. This included policy assessment, segmentation of potential employer customers by organizational size, service design, and financial modeling across different states. The recommendation developed provides a membership fee model, which is (a) based on organizational capacity, (b) allows for the externalization of risk, and (c) provides for confidentiality.
