New York Methodist Hospital
New York Methodist Hospital is a voluntary, acute-care teaching facility located in Park Slope Brooklyn affiliated with the NewYork-Presbyterian Healthcare System. As a member of the administrative staff, the resident provided operational support on many hospital initiatives relating to regulatory affairs, quality management activities, revenue cycle issues, and programmatic services. In addition to the assigned work projects, the resident gained knowledge of management styles and techniques necessary to be an effective administrator. The skills learned ranged from understanding the prominent influence of the leader to how to prepare individuals before a meeting. The day-today lessons gleaned from all the administrative staff were pivotal in the residents growth throughout the year-long residency.
