Ramsay Health Care Cooperate Office and Greenslopes Private Hospital

The first three months of the resident’s time was spent working with the Chief Operating Officer at Ramsay Health Care’s Cooperate Office. Most of the resident’s projects involved working with the planning and development department and consisted of strategic planning, research, and writing board proposals in a variety of areas related to health care. The resident also worked closely with the corporate projects manager and visited numerous hospital facilities throughout Australia while implementing the “Ramsay Way” program, which aims to increase employees’ quality of life measures. The resident spent the last six months of his residency at Greenslopes Private Hospital where he worked on writing the strategic plan for two large Veterans hospitals on the East and West coast of Australia. This strategic plan was board-approved and will serve as a roadmap for change as both hospitals face significant challenges in the future. The resident also received board approval for a childcare development proposal for which he assumed the role of project manager, getting involved in negotiating with many different parties that included builders, childcare center operators, local council members, and hospital staff.
