Understanding How to Break Down Barriers: Creating a Roadmap to Expanding Equitable Education Across India

Ek Kadam Aur Foundation (EKA) is an Indian nonprofit focused on health and education for children and young people, with its Arunodaya program making inclusive education accessible for children with visual impairments. The Capstone team explored how to overcome barriers to scaling the program across additional states and eventually other countries. Fieldwork and comparative analysis revealed that parental misconceptions, rather than peer discrimination, presented the primary obstacle to program expansion. Based on these findings, the team developed a roadmap to demonstrate student success to hesitant parents and created a strategic scalability plan to guide EKA in expanding access while maintaining program quality and impact.
