Carla Jackie Sampson Named AUPHA Chair-Elect

Carla Jackie Sampson, clinical associate professor and director of NYU Wagner’s Health Policy and Management and online Master of Health Administration programs, was named chair-elect of the Association of University Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA) at the organization’s Annual Meeting. As chair-elect serves as second-in-command to the chair and acts as chair in the event of a vacancy or inability to serve.

Sampson was named NYU Wagner’s Professor of the Year at the 2025 Convocation Ceremony for innovative teaching, courageous program leadership, and dedication to her students. In addition to her research in healthcare workforce policy, anchor mission strategy development, and the social determinants of health, Sampson is the co-editor of Human Resources in Healthcare: Managing for Success and Fundamental of Human Resources for Healthcare. She is also a fellow for the American College of Healthcare Executives, serving as editor of the organization’s quarterly publication Frontiers of Health Services Management.
