NYU Wagner Alumna Neela Mukherjee Lockel Named to City & State’s 2024 Long Island Power 100
Long Island continues to be a powerhouse in New York politics and policy, with its residents from Nassau and Suffolk counties playing an active role in shaping regional and state agendas. City & State’s 2024 Long Island Power 100 list recognizes the leaders driving change in this dynamic area.
Among this year’s honorees is Neela Mukherjee Lockel, a 2007 MPA graduate of NYU Wagner.

Since taking the helm at EAC Network in 2021, Neela Mukherjee Lockel has led the Long Island-based social services organization through a period of significant growth and impact. The nonprofit provides critical resources to vulnerable populations, including meals, healthcare, and child protection services. Lockel’s 25-year career in the nonprofit sector includes notable leadership roles, such as her previous position as CEO of the American Red Cross on Long Island.
Beyond her work at EAC Network, Lockel is actively engaged in the community, serving on the board of the Long Island Association and the LIPA Community Advisory Board.
