NYU Wagner’s Online Master of Health Administration Program Awarded Accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME)
NYU Wagner’s Online Master of Health Administration (MHA) program has earned accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME). The accreditation assures the program’s quality, which was founded as NYU Wagner’s first online degree program in 2019. CAHME is the accrediting body committed to advancing the quality of education for healthcare management professionals.
CAHME-accredited graduate programs in healthcare management submit to a rigorous examination of their purpose, curriculum, student experience, and graduates’ success in the competitive job market.
“The CAHME criteria for accreditation is a framework for continuous quality improvement,” said Carla Jackie Sampson, PhD, MBA, FACHE, Clinical Associate Professor and Director of the Health Policy and Management Program and online Master of Health Administration Program. “CAHME was a pioneer in mandating competency-based education for its programs in 2008. The peer review process assures that the accredited program keeps in step with the rapid pace of change in the healthcare sector. I see CAHME accreditation as a bonus on the systematic processes to assure that our students are well-prepared and the curriculum is contemporary.”
The MHA program provides the leadership and management skills needed to run today’s complex US healthcare system successfully. It is built for working professionals, and students study online and part-time and complete the program in 27 months. The MHA program was designed based on NYU Wagner’s Master of Public Administration in Health Policy and Management specialization in Health Services Management which has been continuously CAHME-accredited since 1985.
“The CAHME accredited seal is an external stamp of approval on the work we’re doing to prepare the next generation of health leaders. Students in our programs benefit from Wagner’s intersectional focus on social and urban policies that affect health outcomes and health equity. We remain committed to preparing our students to meet today’s and tomorrow’s challenges in healthcare,” Dr. Sampson added.
The Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education is the accrediting body for graduate programs in healthcare management in the United States and Canada. It serves the public interest by advancing the quality of healthcare management education by setting measurable criteria for programs that meet or exceed its standards.
