Three NYU Wagner Alumni Named Trailblazers in Building and Real Estate by City & State
In New York’s ever-changing landscape, City & State has selected its inaugural list of Trailblazers in Building and Real Estate, recognizing the leaders who are shaping the city and state.
Notably, three NYU Wagner alumni were selected for the list.
Joseph Chan (MUP 1998), senior vice president for real estate and property management, YMCA of Greater New York
After working on noteworthy revitalization projects—Moynihan Train Hall and the Javits Center—during the Bloomberg administration, Chan has now added supervising the design and construction of two new YMCA branches in the Bronx to his resume, as he oversees real estate and property management of the 24-branch YMCA of Greater New York.
Judy Herbstman (MPA 2016), president, Settlement Housing Fund
At Settlement Housing Fund, a nonprofit housing developer, Herbstman has helped lead a major portfolio expansion since joining in 2017, including plans to add 1,500 affordable apartment units. She also led a $144 million deal with New York City and the Community Preservation Corp to acquire and renovate 228 units in rent-stabilized buildings in the Bronx.
David Quart (MUP 2003), northeast regional real estate market leader, VHB
Since joining VHB, a civil engineering firm, in 2018, Quart has helped expand the company’s New York real estate practice. In addition to winning a $700 million contract to repair the metropolitan area transit system’s bus, rail, and power facilities, the firm is also working to construct 1,650 new homes and commercial space on 116 acres of vacant land in Far Rockaway,
