Three Wagner Alum Named to Political Consulting & Communications Power List

Policymakers rely on effective messaging and strategic campaigning to put their ideas into action. City & State’s inaugural Who’s Who in Political Consulting & Communications power list recognizes the leaders helping policymakers in New York win policy fights and elections. 

Vaughn Mayers (MPA-PNP 2013), founder & CEO, Effective Strategy Group 

Mayers has served as a campaign consultant and advisor to top city and state elected officials, including Rep. Yvette Clarke and NYC Mayoral candidate Andrew Yang. In 2025, he helped deliver a win for NYC Public Advocate Jumaane Williams. 

Camille Rivera (EMPA 2019), partner, New Deal Strategies 

After serving as a political director for two unions and as a New York City Deputy Commissioner, Rivera joined New Deal Strategies in 2019. As part of Zohran Mamdani’s campaign, she helped usher in the mayor’s victory in last year’s race. 

Michael Skelly (EMPA 2016) - President, Skelly Strategic Solutions

Skelly specializes in public relations for organized labor, helping groups secure fair contracts. Notably, he’s managed campaigns for the NYPD’S Sergeants Benevolent Association, Tonawanda Police Club, New York City Correction Officer’s Benevolent Association, and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority Police Benevolent Association.
