Two NYU Wagner Alumni Named to City & State's 2025 50 Over 50 List
City & State’s 2025 50 Over 50 list honors leaders who have dedicated decades to shaping and improving communities across New York. This year’s honorees include two NYU Wagner alumni whose impactful work in public affairs and social services has transformed lives and expanded opportunities.
Sharon Levy (MPA 2000), senior vice president, public affairs, YMCA of Greater New York
Sharon Levy has spent her career fostering community development through her work at the YMCA of Greater New York. She played a key role in launching new locations in the Bronx and expanding services for preschoolers and immigrants. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Levy ensured that the YMCA remained a pillar of support, keeping community centers open and organizing vaccination sites. One of her most inspiring initiatives, Teens Take the City, gives young people hands-on experience in civic engagement. “Every May, about 150 teens take over (the) council chamber and debate their bills—that night keeps me motivated year-round,” she shares.
Ronnie Silverman (MUP 1996), chief program development officer, HELP USA
For more than 30 years, Ronnie Silverman has been instrumental in HELP USA’s growth from a single homeless shelter in Brooklyn to a national leader in combating homelessness. Her expertise in fundraising and program development has enabled the organization to provide housing and supportive services to thousands of individuals and families. “Countless clients at HELP USA transitional and permanent housing sites have benefitted from Ronnie’s work,” one nomination states. “She exemplifies the ‘behind the scenes’ effectiveness that ensures sites and programs operate as designed.”
