NYU Wagner alumna Nupur Chaudhury pens two articles for public health journal

Nupur

This month, recent NYU Wagner graduate Nupur Chaudhury (MUP, 2009) has co-authored two pieces for the American Journal of Public Health. The first, "Keep the Whole City in Mind," is an essay (written with Dr. Mindy Thompson Fullilove) exploring the impact of “place-based” health initiatives at the neighborhood level. The second piece is a documentation of work she's conducted in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn on how to promote active transportation, such as bicycling.

Ms.Chaudhury is Director of Neighborhood Health, NYC Department of Health & Mental Hygiene. In this role she hones in on NYC's neighborhoods with the greatest health needs. This year she has been working with a team to develop Neighborhood Action Centers, central spaces where residents can receive services and information. The team also wants to establish Neighborhood Health Planning centers, an effort to positively impact the social determinants of health.
