The heart of NYU Wagner's programs is our faculty. An amalgam of full-time, clinical/research/visiting, and adjunct professors, they are outstanding teachers, expert researchers and committed practitioners.
Wagner Alumni Survey Results
NYU Wagner conducted a comprehensive alumni survey[1] this past spring, and we want to thank all those who participated. We discovered some wonderful news about you, our graduates, and gained some valuable information about your careers, how Wagner helped prepare you, and about your connection to the school.
Our alumni have significant career satisfaction:
Our alumni have high satisfaction with NYU Wagner, too:
The survey helped us identify certain skill sets/knowledge most important in your careers, the top 10 being: written communication, oral communication, systematic thinking and problem solving, conceiving and executing projects, presentation skills, leadership, teamwork, substantive knowledge in one's field, and the use of technology in professional contexts. We are already using this information to develop some additional courses and workshops to shore up the curriculum and other offerings of value for current students.
Our location in New York City was rated at the top of importance with respect to non-curricular attributes of the NYU Wagner experience, and we heard that it's hard to stay connected to the school for those that leave the New York tri-state area after graduation. So, we intend to put an extra focus in the upcoming years on ways to engage with alumni outside of New York, while continuing to engage those still local.
Huge thanks to all of those who provided us with feedback. While we intend to survey alumni in this way every five years, we appreciate your anecdotal feedback and continued engagement in the interim.
[1] The survey was available online from March 27-April 10, 2012. Three emails inviting alumni to take the survey were sent during that time frame to all alumni for whom we had updated email addresses (51% of our total graduates). We received a total of 1,180 responses, representing a 21% response rate.
