Six Wagner grads publish case studies in Prof. Kovner's 'Health Services Management'
The critically praised new edition of Health Services Management: Cases, Readings, and Commentary (9th ed., Health Administration Press: 2009), includes essays by six graduates of NYU Wagner and Professor Anthony R. Kovner, a co-editor of the volume. The Wagner contributors are former students who have gone on to work as leaders in the healthcare field. For example, Claudia Caine (MPA '84), in an essay co-written with Professor Kovner, drew on her experiences as Chief Operating Officer at Lutheran Medical Center of Brooklyn, N.Y.  Read more.

MS in Management Degree Renamed "Executive MPA"
NYU Wagner’s Master of Science (MS) in Management program has been renamed as the Executive Master of Public Administration (Executive MPA). The Executive MPA name is more reflective of the level of experience among the students in the program, the mid-career focus of the academic requirements, and the cohort components of the program. The new name will also increase Wagner's visibility among our competitor schools, employers, and in the wider education and public service market.

Alumni In Action - Public Service Spotlight

On the southern Pacific coast of Costa Rica, two Wagner urban planning graduates have created a unique, environmentally sustainable haven. Nestled in the rainforest, on the border of a national park, sits a pristine nature preserve and adventure camp accessible only by boat.  Donna Madey Butler (MUP '94) and Michael Butler (MUP '94) moved to Costa Rica eight years ago, shortly after they were married, and bought 165 acres of land on the Golfo Dulce (Sweet Gulf) that had once been a cocoa farm. At the time they bought it, most of the land had returned to its natural state and the Butlers intended to keep it that way. Combining principles of both conservation and eco-tourism, they spent the next two years building the Playa Nicuesa Rainforest Lodge, a small, sensitively designed nature retreat and adventure travel destination.
