NYU Wagner Graduate to Run Large NYC Hospital

A highly accomplished alumna of NYU Wagner will soon take charge of a major New York hospital: Jaclyn Mucaria (MPA 1985) ascends to President of New York-Presbyterian/Queens as of August 1.

Ms. Mucaria has been the hospital’s Chief Operating Officer since September 2015, recently leading New York-Presbyterian's “We Put Patients First” initiative, a program to enhance the patient experience at all New York-Presbyterian facilities, Becker’s Hospital Review reports. Her promotion was underscored by media outlets, including Politico.

The hospital—a partnership of NY Presbyterian, Weill Cornell Medical Center, and New York-Presbyterian/Queens—includes more than 3,750 employees, 1,700 physicians, and 31,000 inpatient discharges yearly. It serves an extremely diverse population. Fifty-eight percent of the patients speak English as their primary language, 22 percent speak Mandarin, and 13 percent speak Spanish. In all, 138 languages are spoken in the borough.
