Orientation Over Time

At NYU Wagner orientation is not defined by a single event, but rather a series of activities and resources designed to help students get the best possible start on their graduate studies. Orientation begins with the activities discussed in Advisement and Registration and includes the formal events below.

New Student Retreat

At the beginning of the fall and spring semester, NYU Wagner hosts a New Student Retreat for incoming part-time and full-time masters students. The New Student Retreat is a reflective experience designed to connect you with others around a commitment to public service, get oriented to the expectation of being a Wagner student, and become engaged in the Wagner community. At the retreat, you will have the opportunity to meet deans, faculty, administrators and peer advisors, as well as your fellow classmates. Overall, the retreat helps you kick off your Wagner journey with a collection of strategies, colleagues and resources to maximize your time while matriculated.

All new students are expected to attend the New Student Retreat which will be held August 26-27, 2012. Please RSVP here.

International Student Orientation

International Student Orientation is an important opportunity to meet fellow new international students in a smaller, more intimate setting. The session is mandatory for all students on an F-1 or J-1 visa and covers resources available at the University and Wagner, immigration regulations, as well as advice from current students.

Friday, August 24, 2012 10:30am - 12:30pm in Wagner's Rudin Forum. Please RSVP here.

Faculty-Student Reception

The Faculty-Student Reception is an event for all incoming students to meet current faculty members. It is an excellent opportunity to learn more about the diverse group of faculty who will teach and guide you through your tenure here at NYU Wagner.

Thursday, September 13, 2012, 5-6:30pm. Please RSVP here.

Student Information Fair

Our Information Fair is a time for the entire NYU Wagner community to welcome the incoming class and to celebrate the start of the school year. It includes representatives from student groups at Wagner, research centers, as well as various on-campus NYU-wide resources.

Thursday, September 6, 2012, 5-6:30pm. Please RSVP here

Student Insights from Prior Retreat

This has been an amazing experience that will be with me while at Wagner. I cannot think of any other grad program who would care so deeply about incoming students' ability to connect, network, and just the comfort to set as a new student in a new city.
