Can you tell us a bit about your job responsibilities?

My responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and monitoring the actions established in the CONPES related to the sector (Circular Economy in the Management of Drinking Water Services and Wastewater Management and Economic Reactivation).
  • Contributing to the development of platforms associated with the Mission System of Cities and its Observatory.
  • Providing professional services in the Urban Development Division on issues associated with monitoring the strategies included in the 2018-2022 National Development Plan.
  • Participating in the development and monitoring of circular economy policies for both drinking water and solid waste.
  • Carrying out the review of mechanisms that allow efficiency in public social spending on drinking water and basic sanitation.

What were you doing before you came to NYU Wagner?

I worked at Colombia's Development Bank-Findeter. My work consisted of applying an IDB methodology to make intermediate cities in my country more sustainable and resilient. Some topics include urban, environmental, fiscal and governance issues.

What impact do you hope to make through your career?

Nowadays I want to help the country face COVID-19 through an economic reactivation strategy that includes circular economy, green recovery and sustainability actions. I want everyone to be aware of the main challenges we are facing today, including climate change and COVID-19 as well as their respite impacts.
