How would you describe your experience as an NYU Wagner student?

My time at Wagner was challenging, filled with hard work, and a great sense of community. My year with Wagner was a life-changing experience and I am thankful for all those I met there and worked with. It has opened up so many doors for me and it was also great fun! I was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to complete my degree, which was a great honour and provided an opportunity to meet Fulbright Scholars from all over the world.

How did your experiences at NYU Wagner prepare you for your career?

My experiences at Wagner gave me a much better understanding of the economic and political system that I work in and also gave me the confidence to work in policy. It helped me focus on what I needed to do to become a senior leader as I had got quite "stuck" in my career prior to my time at Wagner. It gave me a broad grounding in policy development which enabled me to expand my career opportunities significantly.  My education at Wagner enabled me to both develop myself and lead others to deliver more effectively for the public as part of the UK civil service.

Can you tell us about your current job duties?

I lead an inspection and project evaluation programme which regulates the use of animals used in science in Great Britain, with the mission of protecting animals in science. I have a team of approximately 30 veterinarians and doctors and am part of the UK Senior Civil Service.
