How did your Wagner experience prepare you professionally for what you are doing today?

I have a vocabulary and language around public administration that not all of my colleagues do. My general knowledge of financial management and budgeting, program evaluation, and policy analysis give me a unique blend of experiences that I can apply in many different facets of my job.

Describe your current job.

I am responsible for a large federal waiver-funded youth employment program which shapes much of the County’s policy and goal-setting around permanency in child welfare, improved outcomes for probation youth, and the value of youth employment. I endeavor to align systems in a cross-agency effort to create learning opportunities for young people with significant barriers to access.

What are the advantages of the Wagner alumni network?

Sharing a regional coordinator role with fellow Wagner alumni has enabled me to develop close friendships and expand my network of public servants in the Bay Area. It is comforting to know that there is a group of like-minded individuals working to improve our neighborhoods, cities, states, and country.
