Debt Manager
East Bay Municipal Utility District
Travis George

How did your Wagner experience prepare you professionally for what you are doing today?

My Wagner experience helped me hone my critical thinking skills, particularly in the realm of public policy challenges.

Describe your current job.

Since my Wagner days, I spent five years living and working in San Francisco at one of the large rating agencies, where I evaluated the financial health of local governments. I am now working in Oakland as the Debt Manager at the East Bay Municipal Utility District, one of the largest public water agencies in the country. In my current role, I am responsible for managing a $3.5 billion portfolio of municipal debt. This job affords me the opportunity to be involved in a range of public policy decisions and I feel that the work I do is strongly connected to the community we serve. I truly love my job!

What are the advantages of the Wagner alumni network?

I can undoubtedly say that the Wagner alumni network helped me get my career to where it is today. I would not have the job I have today without the alumni connections I have made. And I’m very happy with my career!
