Presented by Pan Asian Student Alliance (PASA)

In 2009, author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichi gave a TED Talk titled “The Danger of a Single Story,” highlighting the pitfalls of using only one narrative to represent a group of people. Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders know this struggle all too well. Often nicknamed the “Model Minority,” AAPIs often find themselves up against this singular narrative while trying to combat their own struggles of poverty, refugee status, hate crimes, mental health, sexual assault, and more. These stories are often forgotten -- invisible, ignored, and overlooked with the glaring absence of AAPIs in Hollywood, school textbooks, C-Suite, and policymaking. Join PASA for PASATalks as we discuss why representation matters. General PASA meeting will precede from 5:30pm - 6pm.
