Mitra Panahipour works at the intersection of data and research strategy, cultural studies, and user experience. With a background in anthropology-archaeology, she conducts mixed-method studies, particularly focusing on the dynamics of interactions between humans and complex systems and longer-term patterns of change. She lectures on landscapes and urbanism, environmentalism, sustainability, and globalization, using an interdisciplinary approach and integrating different temporal scales. She previously held a position as a visiting assistant professor at NYU’s Institute for the Study of the Ancient World, where she researched cultural heritage resources and the historical development of socio-environmental systems, particularly in settlements, mobility, and water resources management across landscapes in Iran and the Near/Middle East.
