Raksha Vasudevan is a community engagement specialist with a background in architecture, urban planning, and policy. Her work focuses on the impacts of urban development and climate change on perpetuating systemic inequities. In her work, Raksha combines feminist ethnography with mapping, oral histories, and arts-based methods to co-produce knowledge about the city with historically underserved communities.
Raksha received a Bachelor of Architecture and a Masters in Urban Planning from Virginia Tech. She received her PhD from the University of Texas at Austin in Community and Regional Planning with a focus on international sustainable development, and then was a postdoctoral fellow with the Center for Sustainable Futures at Teachers College, Columbia University. Currently, she is Senior Program Manager for the Environmental Justice Thriving Communities Technical Assistance Center at the International City/County Management Association, helping build capacity and assisting historically underserved communities apply for federal funding to address environmental justice concerns.
