Ranjani Srinivasan is a Doctoral Candidate in Urban Planning from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservaon (GSAPP). Their research focuses on the evolving nature of land-labour relaons in peri-urban statutory towns in India. Broadly, this project aims to examine shis in the polical economy of labour that have now culminated in the current crisis of jobless growth. They are parcularly interested in the polical economy of development, the spaal polics of land, and the sociology of labour. Their work aims to provide theorecal insights into the changing nature of work in the Global South and the empirical results of contemporary regional development policy.
Their professional work spans diverse sectors, including architecture, internaonal development, planning advocacy, and research. A Fulbright recipient, they hold an M.Phil in Urban Planning from Columbia University’s GSAPP, a Master’s in Design from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design and a B.Des. in Design from CEPT University.
