Analysis of Physician Billing Write-off's for Montefiore’s Faculty Practices

The Capstone team was asked to analyze the cause of the Medical Center’s Faculty Practice Plan’s (FPP) billing write-offs. Of concern to management is whether the FPP is effectively billing and collecting for services provided. This includes all aspects of the billing and collection process including patient registration, insurance verification, billing and collection follow-up. By focusing on two of Montefiore’s many physician practices (Obstetrics\Gynecology and Anesthesiology) through actual account review and process flow analysis, the Capstone team identified areas of weakness and made recommendations for improvement.
