The resident’s first two months were spent working with the Associate Director of Quality Management preparing and planning for the 2002 JCAHO Survey, followed by the NYSDOH Article 28/CMS Title 18 Survey. The resident’s duties entailed updating manuals, reviewing policies, and conducting mock surveys. Other projects included improving the process of obtaining General Consent Form and revising performance indicators related to efficiency as well as quality. The resident also had the opportunity to become involved with the Palliative Care Committee, where she worked with a team to create a new database to increase Advance Directives.
